The purchase of two mares from a local farm auction in 1995 reignited my passion for horses, only now they are a much smaller size! I have learned a lot and continue to learn about this special breed of horses. My herd stallion is a grey and white pinto son of the Reserve National Champion, Yashica Light Vant’Huttenest and grandson of the great Orion Light Vant’Huttenest. His foals have all been pinto, except two, on solid color mares. He has had dark bay/white, sorrel/white, black/white, palamino/white and a white appaloosa. He is correct and very refined. He passes his refinement on to all his foals; they are slender through the body and have wonderfully long slender necks.
My focus has changed through the years from breeding to driving. In light of that, my herd stallion is for sale, as well as the older mares. I have several that are trained to drive and they are also for sale. I love to show them to people, so don’t be afraid to call for an appointment , even if you’re not going to buy. Lavender Mountains Lilliput – DOB 5/13/92. Lilly is a very small sorrel mare at 28.5”. She has a wonderfully sweet temperament. She is very easy to handle and would make a good choice for someone who wants a loving pet for young or old. She can’t be bred again. She has been used to greet classes of young children at our farm market. $500
Diamond D’s Golden One – DOB 4/19/92 Goldy is a dun brood mare. Her silver chestnut colt from 2005 is also for sale. Has had several foals with no foaling problems. Her foals have had nice color. She has excellent ground manners. $950
Maple Ridge Silver’s Golden Melody– DOB 4/10/99 – Chestnut and white filly. Sire is Silver and dam is “Goldy.” Very refined and up headed. A+ personality and nature. Great floating trot. Outstanding driving mare. 34 1/2 “ AMHR $1500
Maple Ridge Silver Shadow – DOB 4/12/00 – Black and white gelding – Dam is Hemlock Brooks Silver Flicka. Gorgeous! Nice calm disposition. Was gelded last year after being bred to Goldy. He is being cart driven regularly. $1500
Maple Ridge Silver’s Tinkerbell – DOB 6/1/00 Blue Roan pinto mare – Nice gentle mare. Very sweet! Trained to drive. Great pet or broodmare. $1000
Maple Ridge Simba - DOB 5/10/06 Silver chestnut gelding with appaloosa characteristics. Excellent prospect for cart. He is ready to go. Will probably mature at 31-32”. $1250
