Apple Shed Sales & Customer Service - Entry Level

This part-time position is open to individuals ages 14 and older. We encourage you to apply if you:

  • Are able to maintain focus, stay busy and work independently.
  • Work well as part of a team, recognizing that each person plays an important role.
  • Are comfortable with a computer-based cash register system as well as a tablet-based system.
  • Are able to count change back by counting up from the transaction amount to the amount of money provided by the customer.
  • Are available weekends during September and October. (part-time weekend staff)
  • Are able to replicate and uphold quality standards.
  • Have a basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables and enjoy eating and/or cooking with them.

Apple Shed Sales & Customer Service

  • Available to work 32-40 hours per week.
  • Are able to replicate and uphold quality standards.
  • Have a basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables and enjoys eating and/or cooking with them.

Packing Line Supervisor

This is a full-time seasonal position, requiring availability on Saturday, Sunday and 2-3 other days each week.   Individual will be responsible for coordinating and packing apples for retail, wholesale and mail-order; including tracking inventory levels and mainlining quality control standards.   We encourage you to apply if you:

  • Have the physical strength to be in motion and lifting for an 8-hour shift 5 days a week.
  • Can to drive a tow motor and fork lift, are safety conscious and do not take unnecessary risks.
  • Have organizational skills to track apple inventory using systems provided and make sure retail is adequately supplied, as well as wholesale truck customers.
  • Are be able to work as part of team, including orchard crew and retail management.
  • Can keep packing team on task
  • Are able to understand and maintain quality standards for fruit & vegetables packed.
  • Able to record transactions and accept payments for customer transactions.
  • Have the ability to read and write in English. The ability to understand and speak Spanish is helpful but not required.

U-Pick Monitor – Apple Orchard

We are introducing u-pick apples to our line-up of activities for the first time this Fall and are looking for an individual to greet and direct customers as they arrive in the orchard as well as monitor all activity while there are guests in the orchard.  We encourage you to apply if you:

  • Truly enjoy working with people of all ages
  • Are not afraid to speak up in order to prevent injury, property damage or theft.
  • Have a basic knowledge of apples and apple varieties.
  • Are comfortable working outside in extreme conditions, including heat, cold and damp.

Field Trip Guide

We are looking for an individual who enjoys working with children to guide groups of school-aged children when they come for field trips to The Apple Shed. Hours for this position are typically M-F mornings from late-September through October and are highly contingent upon the field trip schedule. Ideal for a retired teacher or a young parent.  We encourage you to apply if you:

  • Love school-aged kids
  • Have a passion for local agriculture
  • Can manage a complicated schedule of tours and groups
  • Are not afraid to talk in front of a group of children, can think quickly and answer questions on the fly.
  • Are comfortable in a hat, jeans, sneakers and a sweatshirt
  • Has the flexibility to vary hours based on group-tour needs.

Shipping Assistant

Our mail order business is growing!  From late-September through Christmas, we ship apples to 47 of the 50 states and need to expand our team to meet customer demands.  Our new team members must be:

  • Comfortable learning technology used to gather and organize online orders.
  • Have a sense of urgency when it comes to fulfilling customer orders.
  • Able to independently uphold company quality standards.
  • Physically able to use hands to polish apples and pack apples repeatedly.
  • Able to pay attention to details, making sure all components of orders are included prior to shipment.
  • Have the ability to write using correct grammar and punctuation in order to respond to customer requests.
  • Able to stand for up to 8-hours at a time.
  • Able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to work Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday from late-September through Christmas.
  • Use working knowledge of the alphabet to file orders
  • Use working knowledge of computers and the internet, in order to use UPS, USPS and FedEx shipping sites.

Old Goat Cidery Tasting Team


Old Goat Cidery Tasting Team.
  We are looking for individuals to work as part of the Tasting Team in our all new hard cidery. Individuals must be able to discuss the various hard cider options with customers and carry on conversations with customers. The tasting team is responsible for verifying the age of customers who wish to buy hard cider.
